At about 7.30 this morning I was quietly dozing, happy in the knowledge that I had twenty minutes before I needed to get up to go down and help at Crossline. At 7.31, I was frantically grabbing keys, coat and so on and charging down to Crossline, having suddenly realised that it starts at 7.30, and not, as I had inexplicably convinced myself, 8.30. I did bed to Crossline in seven minutes flat, which I think may well be a new record.
The quality of musical entertainment on Exeter High Street is marvellous. Today, on my way to get a sim card (went for a 'pay-as-you-go-alot with avengence' or something) I passed this amazing Polish-Jewish type band who made me feel like I was walking through an Eastern European city in the 1940s. They had even amassed possibly the largest crowd I have ever seen gathered in the High Street. The other day a guy was playing the ukelele and tap dancing. And then there is guitar man, who is the undisputed legend of the guitar world, and yet wears a flat cap and bottlecap glasses. I mean, really, who needs the Royal Albert Hall?
Right, I had better get cooking tonight's dinner (fritatas, my speciality) and then its off to a crossline social, in the form of a cheese and wine evening. I have found some intriguing looking Cornish Brie especially for the occasion.
