Well, I have returned to the Exeter Palace. Indeed, everybody appears already to have arrived too, so its all fun and games. We (that is LHD, Lucy, James and myself) have just spent the first bit of the afternoon mucking about in the park with a frisbee and even (perdition catch my soul) a football.
I arrived to discover that thrillingly enough James has been given a rather swanky coffee maker for Christmas. It does Espressos and Cappachinos and all sorts, which effectively means that we have our own small Bostons right here in the house. Apparently it was a money saving gift, in that it would mean James spent less time in Bostons. But its worth noting that Bostons will still be visited because one of the few things this machine can't do is make Bostons-quality brownies... James has even purchased Bostons style coffee cups to go with it... A picture of mini-Bostons is above.
Yesterday night I went with the 'rents to see a Coram Boy at the National Theatre. It was quite simply astonishingly good, but I won't say too much about it in case anybody who reads this sees it in future. It is sold out for now but is being re-run next Christmas, go see it - I am sorely tempted to see it again next year. Suffice it to say that the half hour before the interval particularly was the most gripping theatre I have ever seen. Theatre like that beats a movie hands down.
The last thing worth mentioning is Operation Beaver. This is my quest to Culturify the student radio station Xpression FM. I am getting together people in order to record a classic drama for the station. I am also cheekily going to use my thought for the day slot to serialise my own short stories this term. Ok, so that second one doesn't quite count as culture but I like the word Culturify so much, i'll pretend it does count. By the way Operation Night Fox, the plan to raise money for the work being done in Florencia de Mora, Peru by wheeling in an office chair from Exeter to Exmouth and also possibly by having another book of stories printed is also a target for the term. Watch this space, as they say.
