Wooden Horse of Troy,

I was quite disturbed to discover that my favourite piece of graffiti has be removed from the police station. Years ago, the mysterious words 'The Wooden Horse of Troy?' appeared crudely sprayed in white paint on the outer wall. I particularly like the question mark. It makes it at least sound profound. I used to mull this over every time I passed. Every time I have returned home from uni up to now it has still been there. But now it has gone. Will Farnborough crumble?

Nobody really is back from uni yet, so I am doing useful things like getting my hair cut. Today's barber was a lady called Barbara or something who expressed shock that I wanted my hair cut so short (the concept of having a really short cut to save money is clearly not one with which she is familiar) and who questioned my wisdom at doing an english degree. The idea that I wouldn't rather be earning money than having three years at uni spending it was an alien concept to her. But I think I can understand that.
